With a cockadoodle here and a baa baa there, we sometimes feel a bit like Old McDonald's farm. With no large/farm animal rescue in South Mississippi, we offer a place for these oddities to go. Our hope is to one day have land that we can expand on and allow the public to come and meet these awesome animals. We feel that having the opportunity to have hands on experience and education would benefit both livestock and owners as urban farming has become popular.
BamBam was a city goat looking for a country lifestyle. We suspect he was invited to a BBQ he didn't want to be the guest of honor at. He has been wethered. He has some trust issues but will accept treats from your hand. He is available to a home with other goats. He gets destructive by himself so companionship is a must.
A true gentleman with a jaunty floppy comb, Pierre came from the same situation as Sunny. His age is unknown, but like Sunny, he has behaved himself around people of all ages. he is available by himself or paired with a hen
Kong is a large rooster who, despite his size, is very calm. He loves dog food, and follows during daily feedings to steal every chance he gets. He is the king of the yard, and has been gentle around children. He has some frost bite healing on his comb from the cold weather. He is available by himself or with a hen.
Betsy came in as Kong's partner in a seizure with two horses and a pig. To my knowledge, she has never laid an egg. We don't know her age, but she seems content to just hang out.
Bacon is a potbellied pig who we believe was abandoned. He was trying hard to make friends with some cows, but they thought he was a threat to their calves. It took us a while, and some hurt feelings on his part, but we got him. We are working to get his weight up, and then he will be neutered. He is sweet, but shy. He allows you to pet him while he is eating, and loves snacks. He will be looking for a home of his own, preferably with a pig friend in the coming weeks.
